Artifice is something made up to achieve an end
through deception and trickery.
And this leads us to something worse:
Propaganda.

Propaganda is the use of any and all means
to get a group of people to believe a lie.

In other words,
you convince artists,
theatre people
musicians,
writers,
and journalists
to do subpar work to serve the goals
and the preach the message of those in power
to get more and more people to believe lies,
submit to oppression,
and become evil.
And you give all these tools money and perks
to parrot the lies of the regime.

All lies have one father,
and all evil systems have one source.

Christians do this too.
I would say a large amount of the
art I see created by Christians
is propaganda.
It is something designed to make
another person embrace their point of view.
It is designed to
manipulate
the emotions or thoughts toward a desired outcome.
It doesn't point to heaven,
it points to an agenda.

My friends know that I have been indirectly
saying these things
for almost twenty years.
People still think I am trying to start a nice arts ministry
where we live in community and eat lentils.
No.
I am saying many of the artists I meet
are deceived, and the church is complicit.
It's time to wake up and decide who you will serve.

I know many artists who are experiencing stress
because they have spent their lives getting government grants.
You get a grant
by saying the thing
the regime wants you to say.
The regime doesn't care about your work.
It cares about getting people to submit.
Artists are just a tool to that end.

Other artists have bought into the global art market.
This is just a shell game for global billionaires
to move money and avoid taxation.
It is also a place for shady characters
to fund war, crime, and mayhem around the world.

These games are coming to an end
and a lot of artists are finding out
that being a shill for one political party
was a bad career choice.

God is not calling us
to raise up propagandists.
We are called to raise up
men and women who know
who they are in Christ.
We are called to raise up artists into wholeness,
who will not bow down to the idols of Babylon.
And we are called to raise up men and women
who shine as masters of their craft
in a world of second-rate illusion.

Learn your craft.
Learn to listen to God and do what He tells you.
Become whole.

This is the only way forward.
