Bishop Joseph Garlington once said
**“Growing things change.”**

That’s a profound one, if you think about it.

We often fight change.
You have to let go of what you know
and embrace the unknown.
It is terrifying.

The past year has been one of pruning.
There are days when you look back
and you have to assess all the loss
and the change.

Some of the loss
**was a fork in the road** and you look back
and see that the ones who walked with you a long time
decided to take a different path
and eventually,
you are both walking
further and further apart.
Letting go and saying goodbye
**is hard.**

And then there are others
who just were never on your team
even though you used the same language.
I don’t lead a nice Christian arts ministry.
I lead a **discipleship movement** of people
who are called to run
into the burning building
that is Western Civilization
and save some from the wreckage
and try to put out the fires.

And when God starts stripping people
and things from your life
you have two choices.
You can scream,
and cry,
and yell
“Why Lord, why?”

Or, you can choose to say
“Jesus, this hurts like the dickens.
But I trust you,
and **I offer up all these clippings**
and believe that you are going to use them
to fertilize the next season.
And we are going see growth
like we never dreamed before.”

The past season hurt like the dickens.
I am letting go of the London dream for the moment,
and have had to let go of too many close friends.

Yesterday God provided the funds for a car,
and the man who sold it was so impressed that he dropped the price.
I am going to pick it up in a few days.

In the next week or so,
there are going to be changes to the Friday email.
Don’t be surprised.

A new season is upon us.
**And growing things change.**

Change
is
growth.

He Never Fails,
