Deceptively Simple

Deceptively Simple

Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when publishedI mentioned a few weeks back

that God gave me a four part daily strategy

for my work:

Worship

Communion

Say yes

and Get whole.

Every thing God asks you to do

is deceptively simple.

Take listening to the Lord and doing what he tells you.

That is not easy.

Try it.

It is much easier to go along to get along,

play by the rules, and get ahead.

The first thing God will ask you to do--

if you are really listening--

is do something that proves you trust him

over the systems around you that you trust.

That's what God said to

Abraham

Moses

Gideon

Elisha

Daniel

Mary

Peter, James, John

and Paul.

It will always come down to faith and trust.

Discipleship is about becoming like Jesus.

And becoming like Jesus is trusting the Father.

Much of the church is not doing discipleship very well.

What we often have is making converts to a program.

I meet so many people in the arts

who have "made a decision for Christ"

but who have sold out to a system

to get ahead.

The reasoning goes like this:

If I compromise with the powers that be

right now

then in the future

I will be able to have the power and influence

of having a big platform to evangelize.

It's an empty illusion.

And you won't make disciples

even if you have a few shallow converts.

If you look at many of the celebrity Christians,

you will have no idea that they are disciples.

You cannot not communicate.

Daniel began with,

"no, I will not eat your ham and cheese sandwich."

That led to

"no, I will not bow down to your golden image."

and that led to

not being eaten by lions.

I was asked to do things that violated my conscience in 1997

if I wanted to get credentials in my denomination.

The advice was

do what they ask now,

just to get through the process,

and then afterward

you can go and do what ever you want.

It will never work.

That's how corrupt politicians get their start.

This is why I felt it was important to

create a coherent worldview

and a model of discipleship around it.

We are going to be focused on it at

Gather Us In this October.

It isn't going to be a conference,

but a hands on activation of our discipleship model.

Pray about coming, because

It works.

Early bird registration ends August 15.

He Never Fails,

Christ
