On Assignment

You, artist and creative person,
are called to make a way for the coming of the Lord.
We are on an assignment toward something.

I learned a long time ago,
people measure the wrong things in ministry:
bank accounts and bums on seats.
They do not measure your faithfulness to God's directions.

In 2006 the Lord asked me to quit my job,
worship in the morning,
write in the afternoon,
not do fundraising or ministry building,
pray about everything,
and tell the story.
And God promised me he would use this to show the world
all that he could do through prayer,
and we would become a global movement,
and I would be the father of a new generation of artists.

I thought I was going crazy,
so I went to one of my very practical friends in ministry,
and he said "you don't sound crazy."

So in 2006,
I gathered with three friends in my apartment in Akron.
We had dinner on Thursday nights
and prayed in tongues for fifteen minutes.
I went to the local coffee shop and wrote in a notebook with a pencil.
The first three people to get this Friday email
received an email from a free Gmail account.
We grew slow, and stayed low.
In 2009 our email list,
then a whopping 60 people,
triggered the largest pro-life protest in U.S. history.
I started to wonder what God was doing.

In 2015 before my first big international trip,
our prayer team gathered in Keene, New Hampshire,
and they prayed for my feet.
And one of them said they saw me with my right foot in Great Britain,
and my left foot in New England.

Today we have over 1000 subscribers online,
and my writing is getting about 6000 views a month.
I have published twelve books.
We are reaching artists in 35 countries.
We pray every day online in tongues for fifteen minutes.
We have a little church that has met every Sunday for five years.
There are now over 200 podcasts from the Sunday sermons,
and each week almost 200 people listen to them.
And of course,
I spend half my time in the UK
and the other half in New England.
We still pray about everything
and we do not do traditional fundraising.
God only pays for what he orders.

Most people judge you
by their starting place and by the world's methods:
bank accounts and bums on seats.

The Kingdom is always advancing,
and Jesus wants to raise up an army of artists.
We did this
God's way.
Yes, it is not that big
and it has not been fast or efficient.
But it belongs to Jesus, not me or any other person.

God is telling our prayer team
that it is time to enter a new season.
Last week when I was in New Hampshire
I saw five different full double rainbows.
Over the years rainbows have confirmed callings
and places I was called to serve.
This was different.
This was a double portion
and reminder of God's commitment.

As I said,
you artist and creative person
you are called to make a way for the coming of the Lord.
We are on assignment towards something,
at a time of global psychological war.

The most powerful thing you can do
is listen to God,
and do what you are told.

That's the only thing that works.
