# Rebellion

Stick it to the Man.

This was the energy  
behind a lot of what happened in the 1960's.  
I was born in 1971.  
I have had to live under the shadow of the 1960's  
for fifty-five years.  
And one day I was in a meeting with my  
former denomination  
and a group of former draft dodgers  
were talking about sticking it to "the man."  
Only,  
they were "the man."  
Several of them were bishops  
and high ranking clergy.

If you da boss,  
you da man.

They had come into an agreement  
with demonic forces  
that get strength from rebellion.  
Soon they began calling sin and evil  
justice issues,  
and began promoting evil in the church.  
One of them said that  
God told him to take a mistress  
and leave his wife and children  
during Holy Communion on Easter Sunday.  
That dude was the chair of my ordination committee.

Samuel warned Saul  
that rebellion  
was the same as the sin of witchcraft.

If you let your  
issues with authority  
go unchecked,  
you will eventually open the door to  
the demonic in your life.  
Your judgement will be clouded  
and you will start to be a problem for the real church.

This is why we see so many "prophetic" women  
come under the influence of witchcraft.  
If you have issues with men,  
and then you discover you can get attention  
through "revelation"  
or your "ministry gifts"  
You will begin to use that to entice  
and control weak men.  
The gift is used to get power.

I see it all the time.  
I have had many women come to me  
and tell me God called them to be my "intercessor"  
and that I needed to get my revelation from them.

No.  
I have one intercessor,  
the Lord Jesus Christ.  
I also have a very trusted prayer team  
who walks humbly with me,  
and I with them.  
We bear one another's burdens,  
and God moves in our lives and through Belonging House.  
I don't need a person to give me revelation.  
I have a Bible.  
I have learned to listen to God for myself.  
When these folks come along  
and they discover they can't get me  
they get really mad.  
Tough cookies.

God puts people in authority.  
A big test is how we respond.  
If you resist and reject those God puts in leadership,  
you are probably already in the danger zone  
for demonic influence.  
If you go into a blind heat  
whenever you hear the name of a leader,  
maybe you have a problem.

The only cure  
for this  
is to humble yourself  
go low  
and surrender  
to God's authority in your life.

Here is a simple prayer that will help.

Lord,  
help me see that every time  
I resist authority  
and seek my way over those you put into my life,  
I am resisting you.  
Forgive me  
for the sin of rebellion that opens the door  
to demonic torment  
and causes me to run from one thing to another  
when you want me to be at peace  
and have a full life with you.  
Thank you for the gift of authority,  
help me receive it.  
Jesus I commit my life and my will  
to your loving care.  
Amen.
