Twelve is the number of the Kingdom

In January I started talking about
putting a wall around Belonging House.
The description of
the army of artists
in Zechariah
ends with the City of God
containing the Glory of God
surrounded by a wall of fire.
There is safety in knowing where you belong.

So we have talked about the multitudes,
the one hundred and twenty,
the seventy-two,
and now we are down to the Twelve.

Twelve is a very auspicious number in Hebrew.
There were Twelve Tribes of Israel.
There will be twelve foundations of the New Jerusalem.
There were Twelve apostles.
Twelve can be divided two ways:
six times two--meaning man, humanity,
separated from the world.
or
three times four--
creation intertwined with God.
This is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Five years ago
the entire world went mad,
and we started having a prayer meeting on Sundays.
That prayer meeting became an accidental church.

And about six months in
the Lord told us,
this would always be a little church with a global impact.
Today, our Sunday teachings go all over the world,
and we sometimes have as many nations as attendees.
Eventually we asked God for a name,
and the name was "Beth Charashim."
That's Hebrew for House of Artisans.

The House of Artisans
is now the spiritual heart of Belonging House.

Although Belonging House is unaffiliated,
we are not "independent."
Belonging House was birthed out of English Christianity,
whose roots are as deep as the first Christians in Britain.

We continue in the long history of Celtic Saints
and monastic faith and prayer
in the Anglican tradition.
Belonging House emerged out of the charismatic renewal
in the Catholic and Anglican churches,
and we affirm the present functioning
and our life together reflects that.
We are also sensitive to the Jewish framework
and community of the early church.
We are Jewish "flavored."

God called us to make disciples in the arts.
The church is the primary vehicle
God created for discipleship.
There really is no getting around it.
And for those who have become part of the Twelve,
it really has been life transforming.
It has transformed me.

House of Artisans
is our spiritual home.

This is the heart of our culture:
people like us do things like this.
