When Dreams Come True

Thank you for your prayers.

We are in a season
of answered prayers and fulfilled dreams.

My greatest dream
is that every Christian artist
would know the Scriptures and the power of God.

I am not saying you need to do big Bible studies
or memorize the Bible.
I am saying learn how to let the Bible saturate your life.

In my life the Daily Office,
what is often called the "Liturgy of the Hours,"
is the best and most powerful way to do this.
You get washed in the Psalms.
In a year you read the Bible about one and a half times.
And it isn't tedious, or performance-based.
If you miss something, you just keep going.
It is a seasonal rhythm.

Of course, as Flannery O'Connor said,
"most prayer books are awful."

Many people ask me about my personal prayer life,
and they hunt down the book I use,
Celebrating Common Prayer,
created by the Society of St. Francis in England.
It's hard to use, and out of print.
There are lots of ribbons and page flipping.

I have always wanted to make an easy-to-use
version with all the readings and psalms in place,
so no one had to fumble with a book.

Every attempt failed.
The cost and the time always
put this dream in the impossible category.

And then came AI tools.

This week,
I built a complete version
of the daily office for use by our community.
All you have to do is go to
https://belonging.house/daily-office/

For copyright reasons,
you will need to log in using the email address this message was sent to.
Your subscription to the Friday email
gives you access.

You can find today's date
and read it.
Out loud is the best.
Start with morning prayer,
and add to it as you get comfortable.

This is part of the daily rhythm I describe
in Artists at a Shift in Time.
It is the foundation of everything I do,
and it can be your foundation, too.

Many folks under the Belonging House roof
already read the daily Gospel reading.
You can find that at https://belonging.house/daily-eucharist/
Again you will need to sign in using your email address,
and click the button "Readings only."
And there it is!

A friend once said that my books are
"Bible, Bible, Bible."
I hope that your life will become that too.

A dream fulfilled is a tree of life.

Don't give up, even when someone says it's impossible.

He Never Fails,

Come under the roof
